I'd LOVE to have you at one of my classes!
NOTE: I am not currently teaching any classes on a regular basis, but you can check back here for updates as I add classes or join my Zumba page on Facebook for alerts on where I will be subbing or when I add new classes!
Zumba Formats Defined
Not sure which type of class is for you? Here's the rundown on what each of the Zumba formats entails...
(Basic or Regular) Zumba Fitness: The original Zumba Fitness is a Latin-inspired dance-fitness program that blends red-hot international music and contagious, high-energy steps to form a "fitness-party" that is downright addictive. It’s easy to do, effective and totally exhilarating! I offer easy-to-learn, but fun choreography to a wide variety of rhythms and upbeat music!
Zumba Gold: This type of Zumba takes the Zumba formula and modifies the moves and pacing to suit the needs of people who need a lower impact, slightly slower-paced form of exercise. What stays the same are all the elements the Zumba Fitness-Party is known for... the zesty Latin music, the exhilarating, easy-to-follow moves; and the invigorating, party-like atmosphere. It's perfect for beginners, folks who've been sedentary for a time (or forever), older adults, Baby Boomers and more. You can read more about my approach to Zumba Gold here.
Zumba Gold, Seated: This type of class follows the Zumba Gold guidelines, but we dance while sitting in chairs or wheelchairs. The moves are greatly toned down, because the participants in these classes are usually much frailer, older and less mobile than those in my standing up Gold classes. We also use more music that participants will recognize. PLEASE NOTE that Zumba does not allow me a way to list my seated Gold classes differently than regular Gold. You will have to click the "View Details" links below to see which classes are seated. Read more about my seated Zumba Gold classes here.
Zumba Toning: When it comes to body sculpting, Zumba Toning raises the bar (or rather, the toning stick). It combines targeted body-sculpting exercises and high-energy cardio work with Latin-infused Zumba moves to create a calorie-torching, strength-training dance fitness-party. Students learn how to use lightweight, maraca-like Toning Sticks to enhance rhythm and tone all their target zones.
Zumba Gold-Toning: A modified version of Toning, this format is an easy-to-follow, health-boosting dance-fitness program for Baby Boomers and older adults, as well as beginners. Through dynamic lightweight resistance training and exciting international rhythms, these classes help participants build muscle strength, increase bone density, and improve mobility, posture and coordination. I often incorporate some Gold-Toning into my Zumba Gold classes when I can, because I believe so much in its importance!
