I am ZIN and Licensed to Teach:
My Zumba Fitness ® Journey
It seems like most Zumba instructors (and Zumba students too) have a story to tell about their Zumba Fitness journey... whether it's about getting (back) in shape, losing tons of weight, finding a social circle, or whatever. And I am no different...
I first tried Zumba® Fitness in late 2009 and I LOVED it from the very first minutes of my very first class! Even though... I came out of that class saying, "I will never in a million years be able to move like that!" I've always loved to dance... But I had never experienced the pure exhilaration that a Zumba fitness workout gives you, so I kept at it & after a few months, I could "move like that"... at least a little!
It is not an exaggeration to say that Zumba has changed my life in just about every way. I lost 40 pounds, got so much healthier, made many wonderful new friends and added years to my life expectancy.
After being a Zumba fitness student for more than 2 years, I got the itch to overcome my shy, introverted nature and share my passion for Zumba by becoming an instructor. Before long, I had also gotten trained in 2 Zumba specialties: Gold and Toning.
My mission is to bring the joy to my students that my Zumba instructors have brought to me over and over.
What makes me happiest is working with Zumba Gold students of varying abilities... I love having opportunities to make a difference in people's lives. And my students inspire me every single day!
When I'm Not Teaching Zumba...
My background as a registered nurse (specializing in home health care), a certified health coach and a consumer health education writer informs everything I do as a Zumba instructor too. I LOVE to help people learn how to make healthy changes in their lives that will have an impact for years to come. As of the year 2015, I also help people get healthy with some wonderful health & wellness supplements. Feel free to message me if you would like to know more about these natural supplements that are helping me age backwards.
I am also the mother of two grown daughters and 3 wonderful grandsons. These days, most of my parenting goes towards my fur kids, currently 2 cats and a dog. In the summer of 2016, my husband and I sold or gave away about 90% of our possessions and pulled up stakes from Boise, Idaho to settle in our dream town of Durango, Colorado. We also helped build a 28-foot tiny house and have totally embraced tiny living. It gives us time to enjoy the outdoor lifestyle we craved here in the mountains of southwestern Colorado!
My husband Jim was also licensed as a Zumba instructor and we often danced on stage together at Zumba events back in Boise! He still dances with me in my classes here in Durango. I like to think that, at our ages, we are an inspiration and motivator to all the young "whippersnappers" out there!
Life is good and I have so much to be grateful for. I hope you've enjoyed getting to know me a bit more. I love working with people and I can't wait to meet YOU and get to know YOU better.
